In partnership with our client LumiThera, Product Creation Studio’s work was recently named as a finalist for the 2019 Medical Design & Excellence Awards (MDEAs) in the Radiological, Imaging, and Electromechanical Devices category for the design of the LumiThera Valeda™ Light Delivery System.

The Valeda™ Light Delivery System is used in the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The system consists of a series of light-based treatments to the retinal cells, resulting in improved energy production and addressing inflammation, ischemia, and metabolic dysfunction that contribute to the disease.

The annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) is the premier awards program for the medtech industry that seeks to recognize the technological achievements of medical device manufacturers. Since its inception in 1998, the mission of the MDEAs has been to recognize significant achievements in medical product design and engineering that improve the quality of healthcare delivery and accessibility.

"We believe that it is important to recognize those who are improving the lives of others through their innovative work through the MDEA's," said Jamie Hartford, editor-in-chief of MD+DI and director of content for Medtech Brands in UBM's Advanced Manufacturing Group.

The MDEA ceremony is produced by the Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry (MD+DI), takes place next month, June 11, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, NY.
