What led you to a career in product development?

I always wanted a career where I could work on a variety of projects and not be stuck doing the same task or working on the same project year after year. Being able to take designs from concept to production is also a big plus.

What excites you most about your job?

Continually being able to work on new projects, using the latest technology, working on a variety of products and using a wide range of technologies. I am always learning new technologies and developing new skills.

Describe your most rewarding work experience to date.

Working on the Lumithera LT-300, a light therapy device designed to treat dry AMD.  Not only did I get to design a device that would improve people’s lives, but also the device was technically challenging. I had fun incorporating a variety of moving parts, sensors, and communication protocols. And it has high powered LEDs!

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

One year I traveled to Mexico City, the Yucatan Peninsula, and Belize with family and friends. It was an amazing trip filled with good food, historic sightseeing at the Aztec ruins, and getting to experience other cultures. Plus, we spent a week off the coast of Belize on two small sailboats, eating lots of fresh seafood, swimming and snorkeling. It was the one and only time in my life that I have been scuba diving. The water was crystal clear and the fish and coral reefs were beautiful.

If you had an out-of-town guest visiting the Seattle area, what three things would you recommend they do while in town?

Take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, do a little shopping and grab something to eat, and then take the ferry back to Seattle during sunset because the view is so amazing. The second thing I would recommend would be to go to Golden Gardens Park and walk on the beach, then have dinner at Ray’s Boathouse ... more amazing views and amazing food. And last, definitely go see a Seattle Sounders FC soccer match, the atmosphere is one of the best in the world!
